These are common recommendations, not personal medical advice. Your dentist knows your case and decides what is right for you.
After surgery (implants, extractions, All-on-4)
- Swimming: most dentists ask you to keep out of the sea and pools for at least several days, sometimes longer, until the wound has closed. Swim before surgery, not after.
- Alcohol: avoid it at least for the first days, especially if you take painkillers or antibiotics.
- Smoking: it slows healing and raises the risk of implant failure. Stopping before and after treatment helps.
- Sauna, hammam and hard exercise: skip them while swelling and bleeding settle.
- Sun: fine in moderation, but heat can make swelling worse. Stay hydrated.
- Food: soft and lukewarm. No straws in the first days after extractions.
- Flying: ask your dentist when it is safe to fly, especially after sinus lifts.
After veneers, crowns and whitening
- Colour: after whitening, avoid coffee, black tea, red wine and smoking for about 48 hours.
- Sensitivity: normal for a few days. Lukewarm food helps.
- Hard food: careful with nuts, hard bread and ice, especially on temporaries.
- Swimming and sun: usually no limits.
Plan the trip in the right order
- Arrive, rest, enjoy the beach.
- Examination and treatment.
- Quiet recovery days: museums, old towns, cafés.
- Final check, then fly home.
